DiPietro Leads Ceremony to Memorialize Local WWII Hero

State Route 19 Dedicated to WWII Hero T Sgt. Walter W. Shearing

Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora), Sen. George Borrello (R,C-57th Senate District) and Gainesville Town Supervisor David Granger honored the legacy of Technical Sergeant Walter W. Shearing by dedicating a portion of State Route 19 in his name. As a proud son of Wyoming County who gave his life during the Battle of the Bulge, T Sgt. Shearing represents the very best of America.

“It was a privilege to help ensure T Sgt. Shearing’s courage and sacrifice are never forgotten,” said DiPietro. “This highway will stand as a permanent reminder of his service and the price of our freedom. I’m grateful to Senator Borrello, Supervisor Granger and the Shearing family for joining us in this tribute.”
