Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora) was critical of Gov. Kathy Hochul's executive budget proposal today. With ongoing concerns about the state’s high cost of living and an election year underway, the governor stressed affordability in her remarks despite record-setting budgets in each of her five years in office.
“Hochul is trying to position herself as a champion of affordability, but let’s be honest, for five years she’s been dismissing our concerns while taxes and spending have only increased. Now, suddenly, in an election year, she’s making bold promises and talking tough on costs? This is hardly a sound financial plan and reads more like a living document crafted for political expediency. Her presentation was full of rhetoric designed to save face. She’ll say whatever it takes to cross the finish line this November, but New Yorkers are not buying the last-minute pivot. It’s time for real relief in the form of responsible spending and less overreach,” said DiPietro.
Assemblyman David DiPietro represents the 147th Assembly District, which includes parts of Erie and Wyoming counties.
