Four Years On: DiPietro Calls For Investigation Into Cuomo's Deadly Legacy

A Statement from Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C - East Aurora)

Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora) joined state and federal Republican representatives today to call for an independent investigation into New York state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then-Gov. Cuomo decided to keep COVID-positive patients in nursing homes, resulting in the deaths of over 15,000 people. Despite multiple promises, New York has still not conducted an independent, comprehensive audit to review the state’s COVID response.

“Today marks the four-year anniversary of Cuomo's lethal nursing home mandate, which demands relentless scrutiny. Despite assurances, the state has dodged an independent audit of its mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic response. Accountability cannot wait. Families of the fallen deserve closure and compensation. We implore legislators, at both state and federal levels, to endorse an impartial investigation into the decisions that led to this avoidable catastrophe,” said DiPietro.
