Governor Hochul’s State of the State Address

New Member Introductions

On January 13, Assembly Republican Leader Will Barclay formally introduced the following new Members to the Assembly Republican Conference:

Housing Finance Agency’s Bonding Authority

The Assembly and Senate passed a bill (A.420), which increases the bonding authority of the New York State Housing Finance Agency by $5 billion to $36.28 billion (vote: 104-43).


Videoconferencing Resolution

The Assembly passed a resolution (C.9) to allow for the continued use of videoconferencing to conduct meetings in accordance with Article Seven of the Public Officers Law.

Consumer Affairs and Protection

The Consumer Affairs and Protection Committee reported a bill (A.439) enacting a chapter

amendment to Chapter 430 of the Laws of 2024, which created a new merchant category code for payment card networks applicable to gun and ammunition retail businesses and dealers in the State. This chapter amendment removes the definition of dealer of ammunition and clarifies that this act applies only to dealers of firearms and not to dealers of ammunition as well. This bill was reported to Rules and subsequently to the Floor.
